Michael is a Director, Advisory services with BDO East Africa and previously served as a Senior consulting manager in KPMG East Africa with over 11 years professional experience. Michael holds a Bachelor of International Business from Makerere University, is a certified information systems auditor, holds a PRINCE 2 certification and is certified in external quality assessment of internal audit functions. Michael is currently pursuing his MBA from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt.
Michael has been involved in corporate governance reviews, internal audits, project audits, risk management assignments as well as board and internal capacity building assignments. Michael has served on the board of directors for the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda for three years in the Training and certifications committee where he has actively worked with the institute to better serve the interests and development of the internal audit profession.
A significant portion of Michael’s work has been with development agencies and Not for profit organizations including the UN agencies, World Bank and European Union funded projects. These assignments have given Michael exposure to several clients across Africa including Mali, Burkina Faso, Togo, DRC, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Ethiopia. Many of these assignments required an appreciation of implementation on ground with beneficiaries some of whom were small scale farmers, SMEs and Government institutions.
Michael is passionate about finding all possible ways of contributing to fairer trade and understanding the inner workings of global trade. This pursuit for knowledge and practical application continues to inspire Michael in his work as well as the opportunities he seeks to attain.
