Ruth-Doreen Mutebe is a Chartered Director, Certified Trustee, Certified Internal Auditor, Qualified Accountant, Senior banker with Non-Executive Director, Chair of Board, Chair Audit Committee experience and acknowledged as an effective leader with strategic vision at senior corporate level in Africa and the USA. She is recognized for expertise in board governance, financial management, internal audit, external audit, risk management, training, mentorship, general business administration, and over 20 years’ experience working across utilities, commercial and microfinance banking, professional associations, tertiary, insurance, private and public sector institutions.
She is a respected speaker on strategy, corporate governance, financial management, internal auditing, risk management, quality assurance and a trainer certified by the Institute of Internal Auditors-Florida, USA. Ruth-Doreen is currently the Head of Internal Audit at Umeme (the 20-years largest power distribution Company in Uganda till March 2025), Board Chair at UGAFODE (a regulated microfinance institution in Uganda), Board Member at Britam Asset Managers Uganda Ltd, Member of the Global Guidance Council at TheIIA in USA, Immediate Past Chairperson of the Africa Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors (AFIIA).
She also served as Member of the Vision 2035 Project Committee and Committee of Research & Education (CREA) at TheIIA, Vice President, Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), Member of Public Administration Sector Audit Committee at Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Uganda. She has been very instrumental and active in the Board leadership of IIA Uganda.
She is the ICPAU Award winner for the 2024 CPA of the Year. Ruth-Doreen loves people and consider Audit as a Strategic Alliance/ Partnership towards achievement of Corporate Strategy. Her vision is, “To use my technical skills, emotional/social intelligence and public speaking abilities to create financial, emotional and psychological independence to people in my society”.
